This is over at EadsyAstonomy but I am just doing the same post here. My 6 year old granddaugther is out of school and on Tuesday she asked me if I would do something with her since she was out of school. I asked her what she wanted to do? She told me let's go look. So since I was going out to get some items for Christmas breakfast, I took her with me. We stopped at Michael's a craft and hobby store and she took me to the area where there are kits. She todl me "Let's do space, we both like space." She saw a kit by the National Geographic that had the solar system and you created them into stain glass.
We bought that and then another item that her and her younger brother and I could build together. When we got home, we pulled out the kit and we got everything ready, and she painted each planet as we talked about each one. I told her if it clears up soon I can take a telescope out and besides the moon now we can look at Jupiter and Saturn. She got SO excited!
