At about 13:15 UTC time on December 31st, 2025, Sunspot region AR4324 released a M7.1 solar flare. NOAA has reported 3 CME's or Coronal Mass Ejections with this flare, with 2 probably causing a glancing blow and 1 a direct hit. As a result NOAA SpaceWeather has issued a G1 or G2 alert.
Don't worry, a G1 or G2 doesn't mean the world is ending, it could mean it's time to look up for Auroras! Images and links over at EadsyAstronomy.
