One last item I have to post from my December 31st, 2024 observing session. This is a follow up from my post on November 8th, 2024 LINK. I posted this over in the CloudyNights Sketching Forum but would ask a similar question here. I have always done raw sketches in the field and those are what I typically post here. I do look to add some fainter stars from my sketch to make it more realistic but I do this from the Sloan Digital Survey. I feel I am a decent digital sketcher but prefer my own hand done sketches at the eyepiece. I would love if anyone would like to leave a comment on your thoughts on this. Raw at the eyepiece or refined digitally?
1. This is the digital sketch I made from my field notes and my field sketch. I like it as it reflects what I saw in my 17.5" f 4/4 dob with my Pentax XW 5mm at 400x.
So which do you prefer? I have in the past uploaded my sketches to GIMP and processed them which I am fine with. I have also then refined them using the tools in GIMP. For now I am just posting the raw sketch. My reasoning for digital is sometimes I just cannot get the image I take of my sketches to really reflect what they look like in person. Anyway, no big deal either way but would like to know what others think.
