The Gegenschein and the Zodical Light

 When Shane and I were observing out at our Lakeside site several weeks ago, around midnight I noticed the Gegenschein and pointed it out to my friend Shane. He had taken a break in his vehicle and looking up saw as he sat there and thought it was a spotlight or something because the gegenshein was so bright! Eadsy Astronomy Easy Objects for the Week for Beginners

 Yes, it isn't really the week for observing deep sky objects. I know here in northern Utah we are getting snow showers so there is no observing going on! I did make a quick video over at Eadsy Astronomy for beginners and I share 3 objects that even with the moon in its last gibbious stage and approaching full moon are still good to take a look at.  Here is a hint of what it is as sketched by Jeremy Perez.
