Two weeks ago I was contacted by a fellow amateur who informed he was dying from kidney cancer that had spread to his bones and into his lungs. He asked if I would help him sell his collection to cover bills. I talked with my wife and due to our current financial position, I talked with him and offered to pay him for his colleciton. My wife's condition, I could keep one thing and I needed to seel the rest. I agreed.
So over the last several days I have been posting on Facebook and other areas the telescopes and eyepieces I have for sale. Unfortunetly, one Facebook group informed me via an admin that I was posting too many ads. Their group allows that but they said it was too much. I understand but felt there was an alternative way to do that so it didn't impact their site. However, I've decided based on the initial interaction to withdrawl from the group. I don't do well when I am told what to do when the rules of the group allow for what I was doing. It seems it interfered with someone's view and opinion of the group so it is simply easier for me to withdrawl from it.
I have created a Reddit group since I actually prefer Reddit for things like this. It is called Utah Astronomy and can be found at this LINK. Here is what I wrote about the group.
This is a place for amateur astronomers in Utah, be they visual or imaging or a mixture to come and talk and discuss astronomy in Utah. Please limit for sale items to one post and list what you are selling in that post. This site is mainly for discussion on imaging and observing and for anyone who may sketch.
So feel free to head on over, start discussions, share images or experience or obseravations and yes, if your a sketcher like me, feel free to post your sketches. It is really designed as a place to converse and learn and share about the hobby many of us love.
So in addition, I am going to use this my blog to post images and videos of the items I have for sale. Then I can simply reference people to my blog. I still have about 6 observations to enter and corresponding sketches. I have four reviews of equipment to add and a couple of shootouts with equipment. I'll be doing that over the next 3 weeks since I will be leaving to go to Oregon for a 2 week vacation with my wife on the coast.
